Youth Program Training Series

Dr. Lynda builds on her clinical knowledge of adolescent psychology and her real life experiences with youth to  train staff and students in Youth Enrichment Programs.  She shares lessons gathered from her years of directing successful youth programs and providing residential services to adolescents. Dr. Lynda has a dynamic presentation style of warmth and direct honesty that enables adults and youth to understand how to improve their attitudes, behaviors, and interactions to maximize the academic and social resources provided during summer programs.

Workshops

Staff Enrichment
: This workshop will focus on training staff to understand the developmental tasks of adolescence.  Staff will learn effective strategies to engage students and skills to develop healthy relationships, utilize authority, and implement appropriate discipline.


Anger Management
:This workshop will focus on physical and emotional aspects of anger along with developing appropriate skills for managing hurt, sadness, and disappointment.


Communication
: This workshop will focus on developing assertive speaking and active listening skills to improve communication with peers, parents and others.


Conflict Resolution
: This workshop will focus on identifying types of conflicts.  There will be a focus on understanding different responses to conflict and developing healthy ways to manage interpersonal differences.


Goal Setting
: This workshop will focus on identifying goals based on one's dreams and visions.  A plan will be developed to accomplish the goals by establishing realistic expectations and objectives. 


Academic Success/Study Skills
: This workshop will identify and nurture successful attitudes, thoughts and behaviors that will assist participants in utilizing the skills to become successful students and leaders.
